Bordeaux: A Model of Sustainable Conference Hosting
Nestled between world-famous vineyards and the Atlantic coast, Bordeaux combines elegance, heritage, and innovation to create a premier conference destination. Its well-preserved 18th-century architecture—recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site—and the city’s outstanding culinary and cultural scene make it an ideal destination for events that merge substance with local character. Moreover, Bordeaux’s Tourism Board being ISO 20121 certified for sustainable event management and participating in the Global Destination Sustainability Index reinforces its reputation as a forward-thinking and eco-conscious host city.
K.I.T. Group France is also ISO 20121 certified and shares these same sustainability principles and values, making Bordeaux a natural partner for impactful and responsible events. In addition, Bordeaux provides a practical 10-step guide to help organisers and participants plan more sustainable events, a valuable resource for anyone aiming to align their conference with modern sustainability standards.
Proven Experience & Exceptional Infrastructure
With a wealth of venues tailored to diverse event needs—ranging from amphitheaters for 200–6,000 attendees to five multifunctional convention centers—Bordeaux has repeatedly demonstrated its capacity to host impactful meetings at scale.
The local infrastructure supports seamless event delivery: nearly all hotels are within 30 minutes of major venues, and public transport is available at a strongly negotiated rate, offering excellent value and convenience for participants. Bordeaux Metropole offers over 14,000 rooms spread over 210 hotels, apartments, and campsites, ensuring a wide selection of accommodations for different needs and budgets.
Venue Capabilities in Detail
Bordeaux’s venues offer impressive scale without sacrificing sustainability or flexibility. The Palais de la Bourse offers ~2,700 m² of floor space with up to 600 seats in theatre configuration and standing capacities to about 1,200. The Palais des Congrès de Bordeaux has three amphitheatres (196, 353, and 1,293 seats), ten fully-equipped breakout rooms, plus a modular exhibition/restauration hall of 3,000 m²—perfect for plenaries, gala dinners, or hybrid formats. Meanwhile, the Palais 2 l’Atlantique expands the capacity even further: its main hall of ~7,140 m² accommodates from 1,500 up to 6,000 people in theatre seating, supported by its 12 modular commission rooms and a 1,000 m² reception hall. The Parc des Expositions de Bordeaux adds significant value as well: offering ~84,000 m² of covered space plus ~120,000 m² of outdoor exhibition grounds, four large halls, and 7,000 parking places (many spaces covered with photovoltaic panels), it is fully equipped for large-scale trade shows, fairs, and events.
Celebrating K.I.T. Group France’s 10th Anniversary
As K.I.T. Group France marks its 10th Anniversary in 2025, it is especially meaningful to highlight Bordeaux. This city not only exemplifies sustainable, high-quality standards but also proudly hosts one of our French offices. Bordeaux is therefore not just a proven partner for international conferences, but also a base where our team continues to grow and thrive.
We look forward to reinforcing our collaboration with the city and its Convention Bureau as we build on both past successes and future opportunities. This commitment is already reflected in our upcoming work on two major events in Bordeaux: the NeuroFrance Conference and the 25th European Symposium on Poultry Nutrition. These milestones further underline Bordeaux’s role as a trusted and inspiring host city for world-class scientific and medical gatherings.
